Design 1: My name is Jasmine and I love Hallyu

this topic has cracked my brain for a moment. gosh~ what do I love? there are so many stuffs that I really love. *ponders... what do I hate?" well, can't think of any actually.

finally, i have decided to have my topic as shown below, it's something that I really love alot, at least for this moment now...

I love HALLYU (also known as the korean wave) .

research...

definition
HALLYU (korean wave) refers to the popularity of South Korean popular culture in other countries (definition taken from wikipedia.com)

how can I interpret Hallyu as images/graphics?

Firstly, I take into consideration the South Korea's flag.

image(above) from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_korea

Then, I went to Channelnewsasia.com to search for more related graphics.
here's what I found:

One of their TV shows - Riding the Korean Wave with Suzanne Jung. The words "Korean Wave" are of different colors, red and blue respectively, which reminds me of the South Korea's flag.

Another TV show - Dynamic Korea. The letter 'O' in the word 'Korea' is to represent the South Korea's flag.

besides that, I went to observe the logo of Korean Airlines

the logo of Korean Airlines is somewhat similar to the text of Dynamic Korea. both make use of the South Korea's flag as their letter 'O'.

therefore, here's the final 2 works I presented to the class:

converting my name into korean with the nearest pronounciation and playing with the colours, Red and blue (which is the colour of the national flag).

basically playing round with the colours, Red and blue. and adding the round-shaped icon.

Tutorial 1
while attending tutorial 1, I realized I was on the wrong track. what I did was too simple and do not fit the assignment requirements.

however, I managed to get some nice feedbacks from my fellow tutorial mates.

1. Try using people dressed up in Korean costumes (hanbok) and position them into my name.

2. Try using the korean words (hangul) to form my name (in English).

to be continued...

Hi Jasmine

Hallyu -- It's great that you've done research before starting the project. Put those research to use; think Korean clothes, Korean food, Korean house, Korean flag which you could use to make your name Jasmine. Have fun! I hope to see something soon.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Siti
